From the Pastor – 10 March 2024

Dear brothers and sisters,

· “We are God’s work of art, created in Christ Jesus to live the good life as from the beginning he had meant us to live it.” (Ephesians 2:10)

· What is the crotalus? Its name comes from the Greek “krotalon” (κροταλον) meaning “rattle”.  Made of wood, instead of the nice ringing sound of the bells during the consecration on Maundy Thursday, we hear the harsh banging of wood, reminding us that Satan is lurking even at the Last Supper, and that soon Jesus will be crucified.

· Is the confessional soundproof?  We’ve had mixed reports.  Please give feedback to Father so we know whether or not to get tradesmen in.

· With Lidcombe and Auburn parishes, we will be welcoming a big wooden cross the week before Holy Week in order to help us deepen our preparations for Easter.  Please walk with us and the cross departing 2pm sharp on Palm Sunday from our church.  We need volunteers to act as wardens wearing hi-vis, please let Father know if you can help.

· Our parish now has an Instagram account, as well as our Facebook page: please follow us, to receive daily regular updates in your feed on what we are up to, @spcsjberala.

· In conjunction with the diocese, Patrick has joined us in the presbytery to discern his next vocational steps over the next few months.  Please make him very welcome.

Yours in Our Lord,

J+
